In the Brazilian Press

MARIACHI was featured in the largest circulation newspaper in Brazil, O Estado de São Paulo. The article, in portuguese, describes how MARIACHI seeks to develop a new technique to detect ultra high energy cosmic rays. So how did this happen? When I was visiting my family, a reporter interviewed me and the story made into the newspaper. The image on the left is the newspaper version of what I explained. It is actually pretty good for a newspaper, although there are minor mistakes.Click on the image if you want to see a larger image. The antenna used for the radio detection is a parabolic antenna which is very popular in Brazil especially in places far away from big cities. They have replaced the traditional TV antennas of the good old days. It is interesting that the newspaper understood the three main components of the experiment: Scintillation detectors, Radar and Cyberinfrastructure. I was happy to see this picture as it explain the experiment's concept very well. Later, I discovered that the reporter has a science background.
