Smithtown High School: 2008
In the spring of 2008, two classes from Smithtown High School analyzed cosmic ray data from Smithtown High School and another class visited the MARIACHI lab at Stony Brook University and ran scintillator detector experiments to determine various things in conjunction with cosmic rays.
Smithtown High School Cosmic Ray Data
Two classes analyzed cosmic ray data that had been recorded at Smithtown High School over the months of April and May, 2008, during which time there was reported a small solar flare.
An Excel spreadsheet template that averages 1 day of count rate data is located here. Open it, save it to your hard drive, then import 1 day of cosmic ray count rate data. Data is imported into Count rate worksheet, cell A2; averages appear in Averaged data worksheet.
Original data files for cosmic ray counts and for weather information are located here.
