History

Jeremy was born and raised on the north fork of Long Island. He graduated from Mattituck High Schooland went on to earn a degree in physics and applied mathematics from Franklin and Marshall College, in Lancaster PA. Jeremy currently teaches two sections of AP Physics B at Bay Shore High School in addition to being involved in the science olympiad class and club and the science research program. Beginning in September 2006, Bay Shore will be offering AP Physics C which will also be taught by Jeremy.

My Car

With the help of a friend, Jeremy recently converted his 2002 Voltswagen Jetta TDI to run on waste vegetable oil. The waste oil is donated by local Chinese food restaurants that would otherwise pay to have it recycled. The system is a two tank system, the normal diesel tank and a separate vegetable oil tank installed in the trunk. The car is started on diesel and heat from the engine is used to warm the vegetable oil in the tank. Once the oil has reached a preset temperature where its viscosity matches that of diesel, the computer controlled system switches to vegetable oil. The car will burn only vegetable oil until just before shut off when diesel is run back through all the lines to prepare for the restart the next morning.
