Video Conference is Catching On
On May 18,2007 we tested the videoconferencing connection to Roosevelt High School, Roosevelt Long Island. Thanks to their expert IT personnel help firewall and client setup issues were solved allowing Roosevelt High School to participate in video meetings. The initial meeting took place between
Mahyar Nikpour (in the classroom) and myself. Mahyar plans to get students involved in research and use our video conference system to communicate with scientists. Few days after the test the system was used by
Helio to meet Jessica a student from Roosevel High School who will be working with MARIACHI as a summer intern. Roosevelt joins Sachem East and The Young Women Leadership School (East Harlem) as schools who can connect to our video conference system directly from their classrooms.
On the use of our system, Rich Gearns reports that he used our videoconferencing system to allow a sick student to follow his class from home. I used Marratech yesterday and today to broadcast my AP physics class to a student who was home on medical monitoring equipment. Everything worked great and the parents were very happy their son didn't miss a single class in this the last days before the ap exam.
So get it working in your class so we can communicate easier!
